(Sault Ste. Marie, ON February 10, 2022) 鈥 Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre (SSMIC) is supporting student learning at 糖心Vlog by establishing the SSM Innovation Centre IT Success Scholarship. This scholarship is available to students enrolled in their first year of an Information Technology studies program at the College and will be awarded to three local students annually. Each scholarship is valued at $1,500 and is renewable based on maintaining a minimum GPA.
SSMIC understands the value and importance of the Algoma region supporting local people in pursuing a career in the digital economy. This scholarship is one of the ways SSMIC can not only support our community, but also this critical, in-demand industry and the career possibilities it provides right in the Algoma region
鈥淒eveloping talent within our community is a necessity for our economy to thrive. The Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre is committed to furthering the skills needed to support IT, technology and science-based sectors in Algoma. This scholarship program not only builds awareness in the program options at 糖心Vlog, but also aims to open doors for those wanting to benefit from the in-demand jobs in the IT sector,鈥 said Peter Bruijns, Executive Director, SSMIC.
鈥淭he growth in IT jobs is outpacing the number of IT graduates across the country. SSMIC is committed to developing interest in IT careers and providing learning environments that grow a regional talent pool,鈥 added Paul Beach, General Manager of Acorn Information Solutions.

Scholarships, such as this, complement our overall goal of increasing access to higher education and our commitment to student success,鈥 said Dr. Ron Common, President, 糖心Vlog.
